Jesus is Coming Soon

Growing up this was one of my favorite songs because it focused my eyes on the fact that this world is not going to last much longer. True, it reminded me that just before Christ comes, this world is going to rocked with such trouble that men’s hearts will fail them with fear for the strange events occurring all around them.  But while it briefly touched on the sorrow that would plague the final hours of this earth, it focused far more on the good news that Jesus is coming soon and when He does, death and the sorrow that accompanies it will be swallowed up.

As I look at the world around me today, I cannot help but think of this song and feel that its message that Jesus is coming soon is even more important for us today.  All around us we can see the signs of His near return.  If ever there was a time when it could be said that love was growing cold and that men’s hearts were failing them with fear this would be the time. Natural disasters such as mega quakes, volcanos, and fires have increased.  Droughts and floods with its corresponding woes are not only unpredictable, but are preparing to bring this world into a time of want and hunger on a scale that this world has not seen for hundreds of years, if ever. Financial uncertainty is casting its cold shadow upon hearts and lives as fears of hyperinflation, threats of a coming global melt, and even the potential for founds to be taken from private bank accounts to pay for bank mismanagement cloak the future in a dark cloud of dread.

Some days this world seems very dark and foreboding.

 

Add to this the threat of global terrorism, potential nuclear attacks, and the warning that WWIII is on the horizon and it is clear that we are living in a day when it can be said that fear is gaining the upper hand.  When their is reason for man to worry about what trouble tomorrow will bring, because the world as they once knew it is no more.

But the good news is that even though we will see a day of great trial and tribulation.  A time of which the Bible declares,

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. Jerimiah 30:7

and

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.  Daniel 12:1

Jesus will personally intervene when He comes to take His faithful servants home to live with Him forever. Bringing a permanent  end to sin, war, fear,  and death.
